✶ eco friendly info! ✶
WE’re maybe more at 98% recyclable, but I’m tryin’! Above all else, please try to reuse your packaging!. Everything is intended to be able to live multiple lives. Send a pal some fabric scraps in the flat mailer, stick that business card in a letter to your mom, hang the thank you note on the fridge. I try to keep my packaging minimal, but I also love sending biz cards and thank you notes to folks because that sort of marketing and connection is important to me. Anyway! Here’s what you need to know:
✶ all my mailers and tubes and envelopes are recycled+recyclable.
-flat mailers are purchased from ecoenclose, they are 100% recycled and recyclable. However, Please reuse your mailer before sending it out with your recycling! They have a lot of life left after making just one trip in the mail!
✶I am working on phasing out plastic mailing tube caps. I ordered some in bluk before discovering a good plastic-free alternative, and I am just working my way through the ones I have so nothing goes to waste. Again, please reuse these! I am not 100% sure they are recyclable everywhere, so reuse and double check with your recycling service.
✶ glassine sleeves are curbside recyclable
-the clear-ish sleeve that your stickers, patches, cards, or mini-prints arrives in is curbside recyclable. Glassine is just regular paper that goes through an extra step to end up all nice and clear and shiny. Here is a link with more info about glassine!
✶ tissue paper is 100% recycled, can be recycled or composted.
-Again, please reuse the tissue before moving it on to the next stage in its lifecycle if possible! BUt it is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable or compostalbe.
✶ shipping label is zero waste, printed on a thermal printer.
-most shipping labels come on backings that are not recyclable, I source labels that have RECYCLABLE backings from ecoenclose. (but Right now I’m working through a pile of labels that I got at a yardsale.)
✶ Thank you notes are intended to be wee pieces of art!
-Hang them on your fridge, stick them in a notebook, do your best not to toss ‘em! They are coated on the front, my research indicates that most recycling places accept this form of coated paper,
Other things to note:
✶ Sustainable packaging is more expensive than your normal non/less-sustainable packaging. If you’re wondering about the shipping cost of your order, know that it helps me be as earth-friendly as possible, while also covering the actual shipping cost and my order packing labor.
✶If you have any insights or info about running a sustainable biz or having a eco-friendly creative practice, feel free to shoot me an email! I’m still figuring everything out, but it is super important to me to minimize the waste from my practice and try to keep everything as eco-friendly as possible.✶
